Hydrotherapy for Dogs

Harnessing ancient wisdom and modern techniques to support your dog’s health and recovery.

Introduction

Since 2500 BCE, ancient civilisations including the Greeks, Chinese, Romans and Egyptians recognised the healing properties of water for physical recovery. Now, this ancient form of rehabilitation is available to the canine family providing more effective outcomes than land-based exercise alone.

Hydrotherapy for Dogs

Dogs experience pain, decreased mobility, and muscle atrophy for a variety of reasons including degenerative conditions, surgery, or special needs. Hydrotherapy uses water’s natural properties — buoyancy, resistance, hydrostatic pressure, and viscosity — to offer a unique, low to no-impact treatment. It enables dogs to build strength without putting stress on their joints, enhancing muscle, joint, cardiovascular, and brain function.

What Pet Owners Say

"Would highly recommend HydroPaws Wellness. My dog with an ACL tear is progressing well after ten visits. Staff are kind and professional- many thanks"

Heather

"I just want to thank you HydroPaws for your amazing care knowledge and service in helping my senior kelpie girl recover from crucial ligament surgery. She is strong and balanced and can now do all the things she could before and her quality of life is fulfilled again. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!"

Karen Sandon

"As a qualified animal osteopath I have been able to see the difference hydrotherapy can make to animals recovering from surgeries, supporting senior years and improving general fitness. HydroPaws has provided such a caring environment with a wealth of knowledge. I would highly recommend getting in touch with HydroPaws as I have seen a huge improvement in not only my own dog but many others as well."

Rachael

"I was first referred to Hydropaws when my 7 yo boy injured his cruciate and required surgery, re-injured it and had a second surgery. His leg was wasted and barely weight bearing. Hydropaws transformed his life - the expertise and care brought to each session resulted in him regaining his strength and muscle mass and he is now my 9yo puppy. His littermate sister has now suffered the same injury. We undertook hydro sessions before the surgery to keep her as fit as possible and we have now returned to Hydropaws for her rehab. She has much mire muscle mass than her brother at the same stage and is more comfortable and confident. I highly recommend Hydropaws based on my experiences over the last few years. The expertise, equipment and environment make the whole experience comforting and encouraging for the dogs and the owners."

Jan M

"Took my greyhound for some hydrotherapy on his sore shoulder. Was amazed at how fast the improvement was showing. After 8 sessions he's up and about again and running freely. The staff were fantastic and friendly and extremely helpful with any questions or concerns. Thanks for everything!"

Craig Cacciotti

"My dog Daisy has had 2 cruciate ligament operations. One at 18 months and one at 2.5 years, and then she ruptured her miniscus. She was very protective of her knees and timid with other dogs. Exercising in the hydrobath has developed her back leg muscles and she is very strong and plays with our other dogs happily. The team did a marvellous job. I highly recommend Hydropaws."
